Role Summary

The Director of Chinese Curriculum will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Chinese language and literature curriculum across a group of schools in China. The role involves ensuring academic excellence, cultural authenticity, and alignment with both national and international educational standards. A visionary educator with extensive experience in Chinese language instruction, curriculum design, and teacher development. 

Duties and Responsibilities

Curriculum Development & Implementation: 

  • Design, develop, and refine the Chinese language and literature curriculum for different grade levels. 
  • Ensure alignment with the National Curriculum Standards for Chinese language education while incorporating best practices from international education frameworks. 
  • Develop engaging, student-centered teaching strategies that promote literacy, critical thinking, and cultural appreciation. 
  • Introduce innovative methodologies, including bilingual education, technology integration, and interdisciplinary approaches. 

 

Academic Leadership & Quality Assurance: 

  • Establish benchmarks for academic excellence and assess student learning outcomes. 
  • Conduct regular curriculum evaluations and implement necessary adjustments based on data and feedback. 
  • Monitor teaching quality through classroom observations, lesson reviews, and teacher evaluations. 
  • Collaborate with school principals and academic teams to ensure consistency in curriculum delivery across all schools. 

 

Teacher Development & Training: 

  • Lead professional development programs for Chinese language teachers, focusing on pedagogical innovation, assessment techniques, and differentiated instruction. 
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to teachers, supporting their continuous growth and effectiveness. 
  • Organise workshops, seminars, and training sessions on the latest trends in language education and curriculum design. 

 

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: 

  • Work closely with parents, students, and faculty to gather insights and feedback on curriculum effectiveness. 
  • Liaise with government education authorities, accreditation bodies, and external partners to ensure compliance and enhance curriculum offerings. 
  • Represent the Chinese curriculum team in internal and external meetings, ensuring alignment with the school group’s broader educational vision. 

 

Resource Development & Budget Management: 

  • Identify and procure high-quality textbooks, digital resources, and teaching materials. 
  • Oversee the budget for Chinese curriculum development, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation. 
  • Develop assessment tools and standardized exams to measure student progress effectively. 

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (or higher) in Chinese Language, Education, Curriculum Development, or a related field. 
  • Ideally 10 years of experience in Chinese language teaching, with at least 5 years in a leadership or curriculum development role. 
  • Strong understanding of Chinese national curriculum standards and international education models. 
  • Experience in bilingual or international school settings is a plus. 
  • Proven ability to lead teacher training programs and manage academic teams. 
  • Strong communication skills in both Mandarin and English.
